Emery Track traveled toВ Washington, UT on Friday and competed at the Pine View Invitational against schools ranging from 2A-5A. The Spartans finished in 18th place out of 34 schools that participated.

Much of Emery’s success came in the form of freshman standout Ashlynn Allred. Allred finished the meet with two second-place overall finishes in the 100 meters (12.86) and long jump (16-03.25), respectively. Junior runner Blayr Jeffs placed sixth overall in the long jump with a jump of 15-04-.50. The only boy to place overall was junior Brendon Jorgenson who finished eighth in the long jump with final jump of 19-09.00.

“It was a very hard meet. The teams that were there were there to compete,” said Emery Coach Kevin Reynolds. “We did really well at a large meet like this and it gave the kids a small taste of what state might be like for them.”

Allred accounted for 16 of the 20 total points Emery registered at the meet. The Spartans finished ahead of three 5A teams (Brighton, Pleasant Grove and Kearns), two 4A teams (East and Bountiful) and six 3A teams (Morgan, Canyon View, Dixie, Snow Canyon, Judge Memorial and Union).

Emery will host the next meet it will participate in on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
