The Utah Educational Savings Plan and Road to Success teamed together to sponsor a read-a-thon in honor of 5/29, the national day to raise awareness for the 529 college savings plans, such as UESP.

All Road to Success participating schools were eligible to compete in the challenge. The top two schools whose students average the most minutes spent reading during the read-a-thon would receive $529 for their libraries.

Over 20 schools participated, and Ferron Elementary finished in the top two schools, reading only 10 minutes less than Manti. The students averaged a total 737.94 minutes each day from May 1-7. Librarian Lorie Rogers organized and helped the students reach this goal.

Ms. Aleen and Ms. Colleen from State Road to Success presented Principal Brian Dawes with a check for $529 and all the students were treated to ice cream. The money will be spent on the library at the school.
