First Junior High Rodeo of the Season

Central Utah Junior High Rodeo sponsored the first two rodeos of the season for junior high competitors. The rodeos at the recently remodeled arena in Nephi qualified several of the Emery Junior High Rodeo Team members for state by placing in the top ten in various events.

Gracie Mills placed seventh and eighth in barrel racing, sixth in girl’s goats and 10th in ribbon roping with partner Cottar Deveraux. Byron Christiansen rode two bulls for third and fifth, barebacks first and second, seventh in boys goats and second in ribbon roping with partner Braylee Shepherd. Monty Christiansen was fourth in saddle broncs and fourth and fifth in ribbon roping with partner Jacelyn Frost.

In the rifle shooting competition, Thomas McElprang finished fifth, Rawzyn Allred sixth and Kashley Rhodes seventh.

After this weekend’s rodeos, Gracie Mills is sitting sixth in girl’s all around. In boy’s all around, Byron Christiansen is in first. The next junior high rodeo is on September 29-30 at the Spanish Fork Arena.
