Food for Thought: Apples

Apples are an all-American fruit. Our students enjoy the fresh locally grown apples we are able to provide. We are fortunate that Utah has a long Autumn growing season for apples so our fruits are close to home most of the year. Apples are a fall fruit and their crisp sweetness is enhanced when they survive the first frost.

Apples are a great source of fiber and high in antioxidants and flavonoids. They are a sweet treat that students enjoy served sliced into wedges so they are even more kid-friendly.
