By Patti Rigby, Carbon School District Nutritional Director
We are always on the lookout for an entree item that meets the stringent USDA requirements and will be a hit for school lunch with our students. Waffles with fresh frozen strawberries and whipped cream hit that target. The waffles are whole grain and of course the strawberries are good as a topping or eaten with a spoon. Strawberries are a superfood. They are nutrient-rich and loaded with antioxidants which give your immune system a boost!
Syrup is offered in case students prefer waffles flavored more traditionally. A protein item will be paired and we may try a few different items until we get the perfect combination. We love to hear feedback from the people who matter most: our students.
