SEUEPA’s Energy Days celebration has become a tradition the community for the 4th of July. Food, fireworks and a live band are just samples of what is offered at the event. Of course, we can’t forget the coal shoveling contest. All is sponsored by Southeastern Utah Energy Producers Association (SEUEPA).

Recently, a new event was added to the list: the high school team coal shoveling contest. Players from Carbon High’s football, basketball and baseball teams all participated in the event, which aimed to donate funds to the winning team’s organization.

Other competitions also took place and brought entertainment and prizes to community members. Contestants could eat their way to victory through cupcakes, hot dogs and pies. The strong man and coal shoveling competitions also brought huge success and a large crowd of supporters. Prizes up for grabs included gift certificates, Luke Bryan concert tickets and Lagoon day passes.
