At a Price City Council meeting held on Wednesday, Sept. 30, Mayor Joe Piccolo and city council members alike thanked Price City Public Works Director Gary Sonntag for his many years of service to Price City as his tenure as public works director came to an end.

Sonntag’s replacement will be Miles Nelson, who currently serves as a Price City Council member.

Sonntag has served Price City for years as city engineer and public works director and, in that time, has overseen many projects aimed toward bettering Price City.

“We’ve accomplished a number of notable projects,” Sonntag expressed.

Among those include developing the Terrace Hills Park including a skate park and playground, the addition of a new cemetery and the constant battle for maintaining water lines and roads.

“One of the funnest projects was the Price River Trail,” Sonntag reminisced. “That’s done a world of good.”

The trail, spanning 1.34 miles from 600 South Carbon Avenue to 100 North according to Castle Country’s website, has become an attraction for those visiting Price and offers the community a location for exercise or just a calm walk.

Sonntag has many memories from his service in Price City that spans from project to project. The thanks he received Wednesday night was well-earned and his influence will be felt for many years to come.
