Golden Eagles Go 1-3 Versus Southern Nevada

Southern Nevada made the trip to Price to take on the USU Eastern Eagles over the weekend, taking three of the four games played at Colosimo-Carlson field.

The Eagles began slow in the first game on Friday, notching one run in the first four innings before exploding in the fifth for 10 runs to run away with the 11-5 win. In the 10-run fifth, Eastern had six hits, including doubles by Colton Hill and Austin Geurtsen, who accounted for five of the teams 11 RBIs.

Southern Nevada responded in the second game of the doubleheader, getting a complete-game four-hitter from pitcher AJ Jones to win 9-1.

In Saturday’s first game, Southern Nevada jumped out to a 6-0 lead by the end of the third to win the conference game 11-4. Eastern’s William Bierlein had three hits in four at bats to lead the team. Brandon Eyring knocked in two of the Eagles’ four runs on a pinch-hit double in the bottom of the seventh.

USU Eastern was buried in the fourth and final game of the weekend 16-3 in just five innings. The Eagles mustered just two hits in the game, which came from third baseman Nathan Hedberg.

USU Eastern (7-17, 2-6 Region 18) will host Southern Idaho (14-9, 1-7 Region 18) this weekend for a pair of doubleheaders.
