The Helper Merchants have won three straight games to begin their summer schedule.

Helper began with a doubleheader sweep of the Price Raptors before winning their first of four games at the RBI tournament in Idaho.

The Merchants and Raptors faced off at the USU Eastern field in Price on Wednesday. Price took game one, 15-2. Nate Olson tossed the complete game, allowing just two earned runs on four hits. JP Powell nailed two doubles and knocked in six runs in the rout. Anthony Jones also had two doubles en route to three RBIs. Jaxson Carlisle took the loss on the mound having allowed six runs in two innings pitched for Price. Tied at two apiece going into the fourth inning, Helper exploded for 13 runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings combined for the win.

Game two went just three innings because of darkness. Helper won the game 8-1. Jadon Robertson nailed a homer in the game and had two RBIs. Jayden Flemett also had two RBIs. Nathan Richens got the win on the mound after allowing no earned runs on just three hits in three innings of work. Price’s Remington Motte had a triple for one of Price’s hits. The Merchants scored three runs in the first and five in the third before darkness set in.

Then on Thursday evening in game one in Idaho, Helper took on host Minico, taking the 2-1 victory. Triton Abeyta turned in a gem on the mound, tossing the complete game six hitter. Robertson knocked in both runs in the first inning to give his team the lead. Both teams had six hits in the game.

Helper will take on Burley on Friday at 4 p.m. and then Blackfoot at 6:30 p.m. on the same night. The team will conclude the tournament on Saturday against Jerome at 10 a.m. The Merchants then travel to Vernal on Tuesday.
