Helper Drops Doubleheader to Pleasant Grove

The Helper Merchants scored just two runs combined in doubleheader action Tuesday evening against Pleasant Grove in Helper. Pleasant Grove won the games 4-1 and 6-1.

Zac Bradley started game one, allowing just one earned run over five innings. Helper committed four errors in the game, leading to three unearned runs. Bradley struck out four batters in the game as well. Cody Lowe went 3-3 in the game, coming up a home run short of the cycle. Bradley also added a double and Jayden Flemett had the other hit in the game, a single. The Merchants scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth, an unearned run.

It was much of the same in game two for Helper, scoring a single run, which came off the bat of Wyatt Wilson in the sixth inning. Five players each had a single in the game. Adrien Sanchez went an out shy of a complete game, giving up five earned runs in 6 2/3 innings. He fanned eight batters over that span.

Helper, now 7-6 and losers of four of its last six, will host Dixie on Friday at 8 p.m. the Merchants upended Dixie 13-5 this past week in St. George.
