Helper hosted its monthyl First Friday on Oct. 5. The events started at 6 p.m. and carried through the evening until 9 p.m.
Available were all types of activities for children and adults to participate in. There was a most gruesome zombie contest where Carrie Mecham, Allure Guerrero, Makai Rogers, Axel and Kina Kranendonk, and Eden Huitt walked away as winners.
The children’s activities included making Barbie doll zombies and having zombie story-time. After the zombie defense training, the fire station got loud with music for the Thriller dance off with Amanda Holley Paiz.
At 8 p.m. that evening, the pre-registered Zombie Run 5k took place at the Helper City Park. The event was hosted by Pinnacle Canyon Academy in conjunction with Helper First Friday. Those who participated in the 5k received a t-shirt and a glow stick. They were also cautioned of zombies on the parkway, so runners were advised to bring a headlamp.
