Highway 6 Reopens as Crews Continue to Fight Pole Creek Fire

Although crews continue to fight the aggressive Pole Creek Fire, it was announced on Thursday morning that Highway 6 was reopened to the public.

According to Utah Fire Info, the highway reopened at 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. The area between milepost 178, the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon, and milepost 230, just north of Helper at US-191, had been closed for many days as crews fought the fire.

Utah Fire Info shared that travelers should be cautious of firefighters and equipment as crews continue use the highway and work in the area.

The Pole Creek Fire began following a lightning strike on Sept. 6 and has been pushed by hot, dry winds. According to reports, the fire has spread to 88,420 acres and is 28% contained.
