*UPDATE* Semitruck Rollover in Spanish Fork Canyon Leaves One Dead, Name of Deceased Released

An accident on Highway 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon at 3:19 p.m. left one person dead after a two-vehicle accident near Covered Bridge.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, a double trailer, which was carrying coal, and a passenger vehicle were involved in the crash.

“A Honda Element was eastbound on SR-6 near Covered Bridge in Spanish Fork Canyon,” UHP shared. “The vehicle crossed the center line and struck a westbound semi head-on. The semi, pulling two trailers loaded with coal, overturned and spilled across the entire roadway. The driver of the Honda was ejected and was deceased at the scene.”

According to Utah High Patrol, the deceased was identified as Arik Mack, 19, of Mapleton.

The Utah Department of Transportation reported three lanes were closed due to an accident. Cleanup is anticipated to last until about 10 p.m.
