With vendors ranging from home and garden to food and sport, businesses from around the area gathered together Friday and Saturday at the Carbon County Events Center for the annual home, garden and outdoor expo.

Jake Mellor, of Jake Mellor Financial Services, took advantage of the visibility that the expo provided for his company.

“They (Carbon County Chamber of Commerce) sent out advertisers and they told us it would be aВ great thing,” he said. “Mostly I just want people to know that I’m here to help. I do a lot of it for free because I feel that if I do enough it will come back to me.”

He mentioned that his financial firm offers a new book-keeping service for small businesses.

“We really don’t have anyone else talking about financial gardening,” he said. “You reap whatВ you sow, and more than that we want people to reap a good future and retirement. We want to make sure that things are taken care of inВ case of the worst-case scenario.”

The event featured thousands of dollars in giveaways and offered the first 1,000 kids the opportunity to plant their own plant.
