An unusual occurrence took place at the Canyon View Junior High spelling bee on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
A brother and sister duo placed first in both grade levels of the bee. Eighth grade winner was Jayce Rudd and seventh grade winner was his younger sister, Annalyce Rudd.
Paige Hurdsman was second in the eighth grade bee and Madison Richards finished third. Dani Jo Thatcher captured second in the seventh grade contest followed by Aidan Mortensen in third. The first place winners will compete in the district bee scheduled for Feb. 5.
