June 15, 1937 – August 17, 2014

John Charles Livesay, 77, of Vancouver, WA, passed away Aug. 17, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was the only child of Charles Wallace Livesay, Jr. and Ruth King Livesay, born June 15, 1937 in Portland, OR. John graduated from Jefferson High School in 1955.

He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State College in 1960. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sharon Lee Bynum and was married that same year.

John went to work for the Utah Fish and Game Department in 1962. His first assignment was on the Flaming Gorge Reservoir Research Project. There after, he transferred to Price where he was regional supervisor for the last 8 years of his employment, retiring after 25 years of service. John served in the Air National Guard and Air Reserve for 34 years, both in Portland, OR and Salt Lake City. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Price where he served as a deacon for many years. Upon moving to the Vancouver area, he attended the First Evangelist Church and for the past 10 years, was a member of Brush Prairie Baptist Church. John became a Christian in 1972, when the Lord called him from “hiding behind the hymnal.” He so enjoyed visiting the shut-ins and lifting others up in prayer. He also, strongly believed in helping people in places he would never be able to physically go.

John greatly enjoyed the outdoors as an avid hunter of geese, deer and elk. But his favorite was clamming and shrimping.

John had such a sense of humor that was evident up to the final hours of his life. He loved playing practical jokes and riding around the property on his John Deere Gator.

John is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 53 years; daughters, Lorie (Paul) Chatfield of Pocatello, ID, Judy (Jeff) Ballard of Kelso, WA and Susan (Bob) Hyde of Price; grandchildren, Kevin Chatfield, Jennifer (Kip) Armstrong, Jeremy and Johanna Ballard, Samantha, Kris (Kattie) and Brandon Hyde; and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.
