Juab scored seven of its eight runs spanning the fifth and sixth innings Tuesday to upend the Carbon Dinos, taking the important Region 14 tilt 8-4, snapping Carbon’s nine game winning streak in the process.

Had the Dinos won, they would have wrapped up the top seed out of Region 14 heading into next weekend’s 3A Playoffs. Juab and Carbon will play again on Friday in Nephi, with the winner taking the number one seed out of the region.

Carbon jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead after two innings of play. Juab pitcher Raidyn Steele settled down after that, allowing no additional runs to Carbon for the rest of the game for the win. Zac Bradley got the start on the mound, tossing 4 1/3 innings, allowing just one earned run. Triton Abeyta and Braxton Bennett each tossed 1 1/3 innings in relief. Abeyta took the loss after giving up four runs, although none earned.

Cody Lowe knocked in two runs, going 1-3 with a triple. Lowe is hitting .521 on the season, tallying eight RBIs in his last four games (9-13 from the plate). Bennett had the other RBI in the game with a 2-2 showing at the dish. Ty Anderson also had two hits in the game.

Carbon (15-7, 8-1 Region 14) will have a chance at the Region 14 crown on Friday against Juab in Nephi.

Both the number one and two seeds from Region 14 will host the first games of the 3A Playoffs beginning May 5. Even with a loss on Friday, Carbon would still host games on May 5 in Helper.
