3A First Team All-State selection Kelsey Sorenson signed her national letter of intent on Monday afternoon at Carbon High School.

The senior inked her signature to play for Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, WA. Despite multiple offers from various schools, Sorenson decided for a location 12 hours away from Price in central Washington.

Sorenson was named to the 3A First Team last month after a stellar senior season on the basketball court, in which she averaged a team-high 14.1 points per game and grabbed eight rebounds per game. She scored a career-high 24 points against American Leadership Academy on Feb. 8, a game the Lady Dinos won 73-16. In a pivotal matchup against Union back on Feb. 6, a game that vaulted Carbon into a tie atop the Region 14 standings, Sorenson stuffed the stat sheet, pouring in 14 points, grabbing 14 boards and dishing out eight assists.

Sorenson signed her letter of intent in front of a room full of family, friends and head basketball coach Ted Bianco.

Big Bend is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference.
