The Carbon Lady Dino Golf Team placed third in their first region tournament at Juab’s Canyon Hills Golf Course.
Keely Marquez lead the team with 28 points, Lexi Garcia made 23, Laini Davis made 20 and Gwyn Kardelis made 19, for a team total of 90 points. The girls use a modified Stableford point system. Par is awarded five points, from par subtract a point for every shot over par or add a point for every shot under par. Juab won the tournament with a score of 128 and Canyon View was second with 95 points.
“The first tournament of the year is always a good learning experience,” Carbon coach Kenji Otani stated. “We get to see where our weaknesses are under pressure and we learn how to play with that pressure. The girls tried their hardest and never gave up and that is all I can ask for. I am proud of them. And we are still in the mix.”
