Trying to make their way through the loser’s bracket for a shot at the state title, the Carbon Lady Dinos were tripped up by Cedar Thursday evening in the 3A Playoffs. Cedar did just enough to escape with the 2-1 win.

Carbon pitcher Kinley Nelson was locked in a pitched duel with Cedar’s Brighton Hollyoak, with each notching nine strikeouts in the game. Nelson also had two singles, as did Kelsey Sorenson. Cali Fossat, McKenna Sorenson and Chandelle Nichols each added a double.

After losing to Stansbury 6-3 to open the 3A Playoffs last week, Carbon rebounded with a 13-3 win over Morgan to advance to Thursday’s matchup with Cedar.

The Lady Dinos finished the season with 16 wins and 10 losses, including a 4-4 mark in Region 12 play. The Lady Dinos won six straight from April 5-27.
