Sara Morley and Lindsey Blanc took over after a scary injury to reigning Region 12 MVP Jordan Scoggins in the Carbon Lady Dinos’ win over 4A Uintah Thursday night, 56-35. Carbon led by as many as 25 points in the game.

After nailing a corner three, Scoggins brought the ball down the court and collided with a Uintah player in the opening minutes of the game, appearing to injure her knee. After remaining on the ground for a number of minutes she was able to walk off the court under her own power. Scoggins did not return to the game.

Morley and Blanc combined to score 31 of Carbon’s 56 points in the game. Cyene Bigelow and Morgan Hillam each scored five points. A total of 14 players played in the game, and only three failed to put points on the board.

After a pretty even first quarter, Carbon enjoyed its first 10-point lead at the 2:45 mark of the second quarter after buckets by Morley, Taylor Passarella, Hillam and Chandelle Nichols. Carbon led at the break 30-16. The Lady Dinos increased that lead to 24, 48-24, at the end of the third.

Carbon, now 7-1 on the season, will make the trip to Park City for a matchup with the Miners (5-1, 0-0 Region 10) on Friday.
