Enjoying a 10-point lead at the half, the Carbon Lady Dinos saw their lead slip away quickly in the third and fourth quarters before rallying for the 56-49 overtime win against Spanish Fork Wednesday night.

Spanish Fork was able to force overtime on a last second desperation three as the fourth quarter buzzer sounded. A back-and-forth overtime period featured multiple lead changes before Carbon found its stroke from the free throw line to take the win. During a span in third and fourth quarters, the Lady Dinos missed eight straight from the charity stripe.

Carbon squirted out to a quick 8-0 lead in the game, six of which came from senior Lindsey Blanc. Spanish Fork finally got on the board at the 1:40 mark and trailed 12-4 after one quarter of play. The Lady Dinos increased their lead to 12, 20-8, during the second period before going into the half still leading by double digits.

After Cyene Bigelow gave the Dinos another 12-point lead on a bucket in the first few seconds of the third, the Lady Dons went on a 15-4 run to get within one with 2:53 remaining the quarter. Spanish Fork then tied it up at 30 going in the fourth on a three-point play.

The Dons took advantage of some sloppy play from the Dinos to squirt out to a 37-31 lead in the fourth before Kelsey Sorensen hit a three and followed a Carbon miss to tie the game back up, this time at 38. After trading leads down the stretch, Blanc had the chance to ice the game by hitting two free throws to give the Lady Dinos a four-point lead but managed one of two to give Carbon the 45-42 lead with 6.9 seconds left in the game. A last second three from Spanish Fork forced the overtime period.

Blanc led Carbon with 18 points. Sorensen and Bigelow each were in double figures with 10 points apiece.

Carbon (8-1, 0-0 Region 12) will travel to take on 4A Uintah (5-1, 0-0 Region 8) on Friday.
