Lady Dinos Top Spartans in Five Innings *Photo Gallery*

It began with a Dekota Kraushaar two-run home run in the first inning and ended on a two-run single by Clarissa Noyes, the Carbon Lady Dinos upended the Emery Spartans Thursday night at the Carbon County Fairgrounds softball complex, 12-2, in five innings.

It was the second time this season Carbon beat Emery, having taken a victory back on March 6, 16-9.

Kraushaar’s first inning homer extended a home run streak by the Dinos, having hit at least a home run in seven straight games. The streak also coincides with their seven game winning streak. The Lady Dinos have outscored their opponents 102-25 during the streak.

Kelsey Sorenson and Lyndsey Madrigal each had three hits in the game, going a combined 6-7. Noyes, Kraushaar and Cali Fossat added two hits apiece as well.

Carbon scored in every inning, including five runs in the fifth inning to end the game early.

Emery got extra base hits from Bailey Huggard, Carlie Robinson Megan Dawes and Jayla Weston. Robinson had the one RBI for the Lady Spartans. Huggard also took the loss in the circle, pitching 4 1/3 innings.

Kraushaar also picked up the win, having allowed just one earned run on six hits.

There were only two strikeouts in the game combined between the two schools.

Carbon (15-3, 5-1 Region 14) will travel to Providence Hall on Tuesday. Emery (7-9, 2-5 Region 15) will travel to North Sanpete Friday.
