In one of their first nonregion faceoffs of the 2016 season, the Green River Lady Pirates hosted the Wayne Badgers Tuesday and, after fighting through all four quarters, ended up taking the loss 76-45.
Junior Maribel Escalante led the home team, entering into the double digits with 18 total points and four three-point shots. Senior Savannah Williams was close behind with a total of 12 points.
Wayne grabbed a huge 30-11 lead in the first, holding onto it throughout the next quarters. The fourth gave Green River a chance to shine, putting up a total of 27 points for the Lady Pirates.
Green River will look for their next victory on Wednesday as the team will host the Grand Red Devils.
