The Emery Lady Spartans used a big fourth quarter against San Juan Thursday night, winning their final Region 15 contest of the season and earned a share of the region title in the process. Emery won the game 65-50.

The Lady Spartans will wait to see if North Sevier, both with just one region loss, beats San Juan Friday night to officially crown a region champion. If the Lady Wolves lose, Emery will win region outright. If North Sevier wins, a coin toss will be held Friday night to determine playoff seeding. Both, though, will share the Region 15 title.

Freshman Kacelyn Toomer led all scorers in the game Thursday night with 22 points, which was also a career-high. She was the only Lady Spartan in double figures. CJ Johnson chipped in nine points and Jessica Olsen added eight. In all, ten players scored in the game.

Emery led 40-34 at the end of the third quarter, but a 25-point fourth proved to be too much for the Lady Broncos to overcome.

Emery concluded the regular season with a 14-6 overall record, including a 9-1 mark in Region 15 action. Depending on the result of the North Sevier/San Juan game Friday night, Emery will either play at 6:30 p.m. Friday night in the 2A first round at Orem High School as a #1 seed (against Region 16 #4 seed, which is currently South Summit) or at 8:30 a.m. on the same day as a #2 seed (against Region 16 #3 seed, which is Maeser Prep).

All Emery, Carbon, Pinnacle, Green River, San Juan, Monticello and Grand playoff games will be broadcast live on ETV Channels 10 and 6.
