Lady Spartans Knock Off San Juan at Home*Photo Gallery*

After a humbling 15-1 loss to Carbon on Wednesday, the Emery Lady Spartans bounced back for a 5-2 win at home on Friday against the San Juan Broncos.

Emery grabbed the lead early on, putting up two in the first inning and advancing their overall score to five in the second where San Juan grabbed their two. Neither team would score again before the end of the match.

Junior Addy Healy cracked a home run during the action while the team’s other runs came from Ambree Bennett, Morgann Donaldson, Madisyn Alton as well as Regan Rassmusen. Healy and Bennett each had two singles while Donaldson and Alton each grabbed one single for the team.

Sophomore Bailey Huggard was awarded the win from the circle, staying there for the entire match. The Lady Spartan pitched seven innings and allowed only three hits and two earned runs.

Emery currently sits at third in 2A East region standing, boasting a 6-4 region and 14-9 overall record. The team will begin their action in the 2A state tourney on Thursday in Spanish Fork, first facing off against the Duchesne Eagles who occupy second in the 2A North region.
