Lady Spartans Leave No Doubt in Win Over Grand *Video Highlights*

Beginning the game on a 20-0 run, the Emery Spartans didn’t let up until they earned a dominating 97-24 win over the Grand Red Devils Tuesday evening, running their Region 15 record to 4-1.

The lopsided win comes on the heels of a 79-25 dismantling of Manti last week. In its past three games, Emery has outscored its opponents by an otherworldly 257-67. The Lady Spartans are the highest scoring team in the state of Utah, leading the next highest scoring team, 6A Copper Hills, by a total of 155 points. Through 15 games, Emery has averaged 73.6 points per game. The Utah state record for team points per game is currently held by Bingham High School, who averaged 74.3 ppg in 1990-91.

By halftime against the Red Devils, the Lady Spartans led 44-10. It was 75-18 at the end of three.

Lainee Jensen led all scorers in the game with 17 points, including three treys. Kacelyn Toomer added 13 points on 5-8 from the floor. Bailey Huggard, Morgan Hurdsman and and Megan Jensen each chipped in 12 points apiece, shooting 16-29 combined (55%). Kinlee Toomer had 10 assists to go along with seven points, six steals and four rebounds.

Emery (14-1, 4-1 Region 15) will travel to Blanding on Thursday for a matchup with San Juan (8-4, 2-2 Region 15). The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 6 p.m.
