Lady Spartans Toss Two No-Hitters, Stomp Piute in Doubleheader

The Emery Lady Spartans outscored 2A East member Piute 46-2 during a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon, tossing two no-hitters in the process.

Emery tallied 34 hits combined in both games.

In game one, Bailey Huggard tossed three innings, striking out seven of the nine batters faced, in the Lady Spartans’ 19-1 win. She also went 3-4 (two singles and a triple) at the plate, knocking in a game-high tying four runs. Addy Healy and Jayla Weston also had four RBIs apiece, going 7-8 in the process. Adri Childs had three hits in the game as well.

It was much of the same in game two as Emery jumped out to a huge 15-0 lead after the first inning, never looking back en route to the 27-1 win. Braileigh Clark and Kaylee Price combined for the no-hitter. Clark went two innings and Price went one. Eighteen players had at least one plate appearance in the game. Clark had five RBIs in the game, going 3-3 with a double and two singles. Three other players had two hits apiece in the game.

Emery (10-5, 2-2 2A East) will host play at San Juan (3-5, 0-2 2A East) on Tuesday.
