Lady Spartans Tripped Up in Road Contest

The North Sanpete Hawks scored 11 runs in the bottom of the third inning to blow past the Emery Lady Spartans Tuesday afternoon in Mt. Pleasant, 17-1.

The Hawks scored five more in the bottom of the fourth to end the game after just four innings of play.

Ambree Bennett had two of Emery’s three team hits on the afternoon, both singles. She also stole three bases in the game. Bailey Huggard had the other hit in the game. She also took the loss on the mound, giving up 12 runs, just two earned, on nine hits in 2 1/3 innings pitched.

Emery (1-2, 0-0 2A East) will travel to St. George this weekend for a tournament. The Lady Spartans will then kick off 2A East play on Monday in Moab against the Grand Red Devils.
