Lady Spartans win Extra-Inning Thriller in Blanding

It took eight innings, but the Emery Lady Spartans came away with the 16-10 win against the San Juan Broncos Tuesday afternoon in Blanding.

Leading 10-2 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Emery gave up eight Bronco runs that tied the game, forcing the game to extra innings. The Lady Spartans then scored six runs in the top of the eighth to take the lead before Braileigh Clark closed the door on San Juan in the bottom of the inning, leading Emery to the win.

Carlie Robinson had four hits in the game, going 4-5 with four singles and two RBIs. Addy Healy had knocked four runs in, notching two doubles and a single in five at-bats. Adri Childs also had three hits, two of which going for doubles. Four other players had two hits apiece.

Bailey Huggard got the win in the circle, allowing five earned runs while striking out eight over 7 1/3 innings.

Emery (11-6, 3-3 2A East) will host South Sevier on Thursday at 2 p.m. The Lady Spartans will then hot North Sevier, a fellow 2A East member, on Tuesday.
