East Carbon City Councilors listened to concerns Tuesday about scrap picking at the landfill.

East Carbon City Police Officer Shawn Sackett said he wrote two tickets to scavengers in the last week.

Sackett said most scavengers he encountered throughout the years said there was no sign prohibiting the practice, so they thought it was okay.

Councilmen voted to erect sign stating scavenging and unpermitted dumping were illegal.

Notes:

Councilmen voted to accept Tracey Robinson as a volunteer while he practices to test for water treatment plant certification.

Councilmen said they would search for a used four-wheel drive truck to replace one with continuing maintenance problems. East Carbon only has two such vehicles, and workers can’t afford to be without one for too long.
