Emery High rodeo team member Hayden Cloward placed third in the world at the world finals in Rock Springs, Wyo. on Saturday evening. Cloward and partner Catoor team roped two, five-second runs to capture this honor. With over 1,700 contestants from four different countries, the stakes were high and competition keen.

Cloward has qualified for nationals all four of his high school years. Four years ago, he also placed third with his brother Hadley. He has received a full-ride scholarship to join his brother for team roping at South Plains College in Texas and will start roping for them in August. The Utah team was second overall while the girls team captured first place.

Brothers Kolton and Kagen Rhodes of the Carbon team also participated in the shooting categories at the finals. Kolton finished fourth in the world in the light rifle shooting category while Kagen competed in trap shooting.

Kolton also received a buckle and a $500 scholarship.
