Students at Bruin Point Elementary joined forces to plant a tree in honor of Earth Day on Sunday.
The school’s student council and fourth graders teamed up to plant the tree, taking turns digging. Local firefighter and volunteer Nickole McCarty assisted the Bruin Point Bears throughout the process.
Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22. Events throughout the world aim to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The inaugural event took place in 1970 and is now celebrated in over 190 countries with efforts coordinated by the Earth Day Network.
