The Emery Spartans stumbled to their first Region 15 loss of the season, and their first in the last 12 games overall, Wednesday night in Manti, 65-59.
The Spartans were looking to avenge a loss to the Templars in the 2A Championship game last season. Leading by six at halftime, Emery lost the momentum in the second half as Manti outscored the Spartans 40-28.
Koby Butler’s consistent play continued against the Templars, scoring a game-high 26 points. Bowdie Jacobson was in double figures with 11. Bryce Dugmore chipped in nine points.
Emery (14-2, 4-1 Region 15, #1 in 2A) will look to rebound Friday night as it hosts North Sevier (12-5, 2-3 Region 15) at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live at the following website:
