Emery rodeo team members competed in Panguitch over the weekend. Several cowboys and cowgirls picked up more points while others qualified for state by placing in the top ten in their respective events.

Kayson Jensen rode his bareback and earned third place. Bret Olsen roped in 13.5 seconds and placed eighth in tie down roping. In team roping, Drake Weber and Bret Olsen placed ninth. In girls’ breakaway, two cowgirls, Jessie McElprang and Shaylee Gilbert, placed sixth and eighth, respectively, on Friday. Gilbert took second on Saturday.

Korby Christiansen was eighth and Byron finsihed 10th in reining cow competition.

Castle Dale and Salina are the next rodeos for the Emery team followed by Cedar City the following weekend. The team will then take a break until the Dixie-Six in November, which will give team members about month to practice and get ready to follow the rodeo trail again.
