Kinley Nelson had three hits and two RBIs and pitched a complete game Friday in the Carbon Lady Dinos’ 8-1 win over North Sanpete, avenging a 6-2 loss to the Hawks back on March 22.

Nelson gave up seven hits and struck out four Hawk batters. The win marked the fifth straight for Carbon, which now sits in second place behind Juab in the Region 12 standings.

One of Nelson’s three hits was a homerun, which occurred in the second inning. Taylor Passarella and Makenna Pendergrass also went yard in the game, Passarella’s in the third and Pendergrass’s in the fourth. Both combined for five RBIs. Chandelle Nichols had the other RBI in the game on a double in the second. The team had 13 total hits in the game, four of which went for extra bases. The team scored two runs apiece in the second and third innings and four more in the fourth to round out the scoring.

Carbon (12-5, 4-1 Region 12) sits just one game behind first place Juab (16-1, 3-0 Region 12). The Lady Dinos will play at Union (10-11, 1-4 Region 10) on Tuesday and Friday at Canyon View (6-11, 2-4 Region 12).
