The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce gathered with members of the community to cut a ribbon at the Price City Trails restroom on Friday afternoon. The new restroom is located at the trail parking lot at 650 South Carbon Avenue.

Price City Mayor Joe Piccolo began the ceremony by welcoming those in attendance. Chris Haller from Utah State Parks and Recreation next said a few words about the work that went into constructing the public restroom.

Many hours of planning went into the construction of the restroom as developers had to work around a floodplain while finding and area that would grant access to power, water and sewer. After construction began, the project took six weeks and nearly $90,000 to complete.

After being pointed in the right direction by Diane Lodeserto and Debbie Marvidakis, Price City Councilman Wayne Clausing and Price City Community Director Nick Tatton began writing a grant nearly two years ago to acquire money from the Utah State Parks and Recreation trails division to help fund the project. The matching grant was approved in the amount of $45,000. Price City and Carbon County then put forward $22,500 each to match the funds.

“Without the commissioners, we wouldn’t have been able to make that happen so quick,” Clausing explained. “I just want to give a special thanks to everybody.”

The chamber then gathered to cut the ribbon and open the restrooms to the public.
