Helper American Legion Baseball hit the road Wednesday for a game with Olympus in Salt Lake City. It was the first seven-inning game for quite a while for the Helper team, but it still shut out its opponent 9-0.

Jarod Lessar pitched a complete game and gave up just two hits in the shutout.

Helper scored two runs in the first on a double by Derek Young and single by Ridge Nielson. It wasn’t until the fifth before Helper added three more runs on singles by Dakota Cisneros and Dylan Vogrinec. Helper finished the game with a flurry of four runs in the seventh on a RBI single by Tyler Procarione and a two-RBI double by Mike Peczuh.

“Jarod once again did a very nice job and we played good defense behind him. Our offense started a little slower that it has the past couple games,” said Helper Coach Jeff Cisneros. “Overall, I thought we played a good game and we hung in and made some adjustments offensively later in the game. We had eight hits and we played flawless on defense.“

With the win Helper stands at 11-1 in the league and 18-2, overall.
