Coming off back-to-back losses against Altamount and Wayne last week, the Pinnacle boys’ basketball team started this week’s tournament on a high note, cruising to a 89-60 win against Mount Vernon at the APA Eagle Tournament.

Wednesday’s game saw Kaden Daughtery leading the Panther squad as he poured in 23 points, including two buckets from downtown. Isiah Wilstad and Dalton Cook also made impressive showings, chipping in 14 apiece. Wilstad’s points were credited to four treys in the game.

Pinnacle’s dominating offense came out in the first outscoring the Patriots 27-13 and never let up. The Panthers continued to out-shoot their opponents in the first three quarters before cooling off in the fourth.

Six other Pinnacle athletes grabbed buckets for the team, including double-digit stats from Liam Bloomer (11) and Ben Scott (10).

The Panthers will continue on in the tournament with three games scheduled throughout the next two days. The team will take on Utah Military on Thursday at 4 p.m. before playing APA West Valley and St. Joseph on Friday.
