The Panthers hit the road over the weekend to participate in the Manila Holiday Classic and, while there, managed to notch their second victory this season.

The tournament started on a different note for the Panthers, however, as the team was pitted against the Manila Mustangs Friday night and fell, 68-36.

Manila grabbed a game-high 21 in the first while Pinnacle managed only nine. By the end of the first half, Manila had increased their lead to 41-11. Pinnacle fought hard in the fourth, putting up 20, but wasn’t able to steal back the victory.

Pinnacle next faced off against Mount Vernon Saturday evening and walked away victorious, 64-49. The first found both teams tied 10-10 before the Panthers pulled ahead of the Patriots in the second, ending it with a 27-21 lead.

The Panthers put their collective foot on the gas hard in the third, putting up 25 and boosting their lead to 52-34. The fourth found both teams fighting hard before ending the match in Pinnacle’s favor.

Panther Valentin Acosta led his team in scoring over the weekend, managing a total of 30 points and seven three-point shots. Teammate Isaiah Wilstead followed with 16 over the two-day event.

The Panthers’ next chance at victory will come on Wednesday as the team hosts Dugway.
