South Sevier’s Race Parsons netted 26 points Friday night, leading the Rams in their Region 15 win against Emery 55-35.

The Spartans jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first quarter, but the Rams ended the quarter on a 12-0 run to make it 14-6 after one quarter. South Sevier extended its lead to 10 at halftime. Emery Coach Todd Jeffs said once the Rams were in the lead the Spartans were just playing catch up.

“For whatever reason we stopped attacking it and started passing the ball out front and just played into what they wanted us to do,” he said. “By the time we had gotten that straightened out we were down by 15 points and at that point it’s all catch up, and we don’t do that well.”

The Spartans cut the lead to nine at the end of the third quarter on a 65-foot shot by Dallon Cologie, but the Rams used a 15-6 four quarter to put the game out of reach.

Dawson Jensen led the Spartans with 12 points and Cologie followed up with 11.

Emery fell to 8-8 on the season and sits alone in third place in Region 15 with a 2-4 record. South Sevier ran its win streak to 17 games and is undefeated in region play.

Emery next hosts Richfield on Friday at 7 p.m.
