Pinnacle Boys Dominate, Girls Conclude Season With Loss

The Pinnacle Panthers used a 16-0 run to begin Saturday’s game at Monument Valley, winning the game going away, 76-54.

Seniors Noah Mascarenas and Levi Rutherford poured in 19 and 17 points, respectively. Val Acosta was right behind with 15 points. He also chipped in six rebounds and seven assists. Jorrdon Richardson also dished out seven dimes and had six steals.

The Panthers had a huge first half, outscoring their opponents 44-18 in the first two quarters.

Pinnacle (12-5, 5-2 Region 19) has three games remaining on its schedule, beginning with a Tuesday matchup at Duchesne before hosting Telos on Feb. 19 and Whitehorse on the 25th.

Meanwhile, the Lady Panthers were tripped up in their contest against Monument Valley, 63-27, ending their 2015-16 season.

The team finished the year at 1-15 overall and 0-7 in Region 19 action. With the loss, Pinnacle was eliminated from playoff contention. The team’s only win of the season came back on Jan. 25 against Rockwell, 40-35.
