The Carbon County Communities that Care Coalition asked Price City Councilmen on Wednesday to approve a proposition to promote drug abuse awareness in the Price City Peace Gardens.

Coalition members wanted to display a picket fence that would be decorated with stories and art designed to help change attitudes about drug abuse.

Councilmen approved the proposal.

Notes:

  • Mayor Joe Piccolo read a proclamation making Sept. 10 “Day of Caring” and calling citizens to donate time to give to the needy through acts of service.
  • City engineers found a 100-year-old blueprint of Price and an adjacent railroad. Councilmen plan to make copies and present one to the railroad as part of the ongoing Centennial Celebration.
  • The Centennial Committee launched a program called 100 books for 100 years in which 100 books would be donated to the City library. Twenty dollars per pledge would cover the average cost of a hardbound book, and committee members were looking for 100 such pledges. Mayor Piccolo sponsored the first five books.
