The tennis court committee visited the Price City Council meeting Tuesday to open repair bids and discuss how the project could move forward.
The committee received two bids, one for $33,000 and one for $22,400. Councilmen voted to accept the lower bid, which was from Courts Unlimited.
Decision makers said repair work on the Washington Park courts would continue as planned. The current repairs, consisting of filling the cracks and applying a new finish coat over the top of the existing courts, could last for up to three years.
Committee member Nick Mahleres hoped for a long-term fix.
“We’ve made great strides in continuing tennis in the community,” Mahleres said. “It’s been a considerable effort on both the council and the City’s part in seeing it through.”
Mahleres said committee members would like to see a day when youth tennis programs spread throughout Price.
Mahleres also said he hopes people will use the courts as much as possible.
