Division of Wildlife Resources representatives reported tough hunting conditions to the Emery County Public Lands Council on Tuesday morning in Castle Dale.

Representatives said a lack of snow was allowing elk, deer and most other animals to stay high in the mountains, which contributed to a difficult hunting season. Snow generally forces the animals to travel to lower elevations.

Representatives also expressed concerns about continued poaching. Representatives encouraged anyone with knowledge of poaching to report the incident.

Councilmen also reported the Scofield fishing contest drew approximately 200 participants and was a successful event.
