Along with the many amenities and forms of entertainment provided during the Helper Arts Festival, a ribbon cutting also took place at the Western Mining and Railroad Museum located on Helper’s Main Street to celebrate the addition of the railroad exhibit and gallery.

Catered by the Cowboy Kitchen, food and drink were available during this event. Speeches were given by Museum Curator Jim Boyd, Mayor Ed Chavez, Representative Brad King and Senator David Hinkins. Each spoke on the pride of Helper, the museum’s history and the benefits of growth.

“What we’re preserving here is history,” stated Representative King.

Boyd also took time to thank the many people that contributed to the additions given to the museum, stating that none of it would have been possible without the generous assistance and the community coming together for a great cause.

L.E.D lights were installed in the gallery section of the museum as well as an additional wall being installed to display more of the art. The railroad exhibit has a working model of a train on tracks,\ along with many displays of railroad equipment of past times.
