Raptors Again Go 1-3 in Out-of-State Tourney

The Price American Legion Raptors wrapped up participation in the Green River Invitational (Wyo.) over the weekend with a 1-3 record. The lone win was against Riverton 11-7.

First up was Rock Springs on Friday; a game the Raptors lost 5-3. Price then squared off against Riverton on Saturday and also against Evanston, to whom it lost 5-4. Green River beat Price 9-1 to wrap up the tournament on Sunday.

In the Raptors’ win over Riverton, Duncan LaCombe went 3-4, finishing a triple short of the cycle, including a three-run home run in the first inning. Tyson Busch also went 3-4 with two singles and a double. Johnny Tallerico and Trevor Pummell both added two hits apiece, both singles, in the win. Drew Jones had the other hit in the game, a single in the sixth.

Gavin Robinette also bashed a home run in the tournament, three-run blast in the third inning against Evanston.

With a doubleheader sweep against Vernal on June 10 and two losses to Helper last Monday, the Raptors sit at 2-2 in league play. Price will host Roosevelt on Friday for a doubleheader at USU Eastern’s baseball field. Games will be at 4 and 6 p.m.
