Representative Albrecht speaks to his bill, HB 358, on the house floor Friday, February 24.

By Representative Carl Albrecht

Time has gone by fast here on the hill. We have finished up week five, with only two more to go. In these last two weeks, much more time will be dedicated to floor time in order to carefully debate and consider all the bills left to discuss, and less time in committees hearing bills.

My bill, HB 48, was heard by the Senate on Thursday for the third time and passed through unanimously this week by Senator Dayton. It now goes to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law.

I have another bill, HB 358, which passed through the House Business and Labor Committee unanimously earlier this week. I presented it on the House Floor Friday, February 24, and it passed out unanimously. It will now be sent to a Senate Committee. This bill will allow the Department of Health to access the Department of Human Services’ Licensing Information System and the Division of Aging and Adult Services database when conducting a background investigation for an individual seeking an Emergency Medical Services license.

I still attend the Conservative and Rural Caucus meetings weekly, and standing committees still meet, but for a smaller amount of time, now. Things are about to move to a very quick pace, as the last two weeks are full of considerable debate and discussion.

I hope that I have done a good job in representing my constituents in District 70. I have been humbled and honored to do so. If any of my constituents have any concerns, I urge you to reach out to me. I can be contacted by email at carlalbrecht@le.utah.gov or by calling at (435) 979-6578.
