USU Eastern Press Release

Utah State Eastern’s Jesse Rowley has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at CSU Bakersfield next season.

The sophomore third baseman and outfielder chose to continue his collegiate career in Bakersfield because of the location and opportunity to play for CSU Bakerfield’s coaching staff.

“I signed with CSU Bakersfield because you can’t get much better than a California Division I baseball program and I really like their coaching staff,” said Rowley.

Rowley is in the middle of a strong second season with the Eagles. At the plate, he is batting at team-high .371 with five home runs, 31 RBIs, 46 hits and a .466 on-base percentage.

“He has been a strong player for us the past two years. He will be beneficial to any program he goes to and we are proud of him for going to such a prestigious program,” said USU Eastern head coach Scott Madsen.

During his freshman year, Rowley was named to the Region XVIII first team after batting .350 with 19 RBIs, three home runs and 16 stolen bases.

Rowley is the second player on this year’s USU Eastern roster to sign with a NCAA Division I program. Pitcher Jarod Lessar signed with Brigham Young University during the fall semester.

The USU Eastern baseball team is 20-20 overall and 12-11 in conference. The Eagles travel to Henderson this weekend to play CSN in a four-game series.
