Salt Lake Resident Involved in Fatal Accident on I-70

On May 15 at approximately 4:32 p.m., a fatal accident occurred on I-70 near mile post 153.

The driver of a 2004 Nissan Xterra was traveling eastbound when, due to an unknown reason, the vehicle drifted off the roadway. Upon attempting to return to the roadway, the driver of the vehicle over-corrected and exited the road on the left side and onto the median, rolling multiple times according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The driver, 26-year-old Jason R. Hoth of Salt Lake City, was pronounced dead on the scene while the passenger, a 26-year-old female, was removed from the vehicle and transported by air to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo.

According to UHP, it appeared that both parties were wearing seatbelts.
